Fans of Glen Hansard, The Frames, The Swell Season – circle this year’s October bank holiday Sunday in your diary.
No stranger to Kilkenny having graced Nowlan Park with Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan, to Cleere’s on Parliament Street over the years either with The Frames or on his solo endeavours, Glen Hansard is making his way to Kilkenny this October as part of his autumn tour.
The news comes off the back of his Trinity College series appearance last week, the autumn tour taking in nine venues around Ireland between October and November.

For local fans, the good news this time is that the The Hub at Cillin Hill will host his Kilkenny stop, with a capacity closer to 10-15 times his last visit to Kilkenny as part of a grassroots venue tour with The Frames in February. The capacity at The Hub ranges from 1,200 to 1,900 for a fully-seated or fully-standing show.

Tickets for his 25 October date are going on sale this coming Friday morning from GlenHansard.com and TheHubKilkenny.ie. A limited pre-sale for fans will take place on Wednesday.
Hansard’s Kilkenny show is the latest in a line of gigs for The Hub this year. Having already hosted The Boomtown Rats in January and the Live Forever Oasis tribute in May, The High Kings will take to the stage at Cillin Hill on 28 December, followed by Gavin James on 29 December.
