With rumours swirling around Kilkenny on Thursday that the likes of Garth Brooks, U2, Zach Bryan and more could be popping up at UPMC Nowlan Park next summer, will Thursday’s announcement also feature Kingfishr?
The Killeagh hitmakers have already announced a series of big outdoor shows with sold-out dates at Belsonic (Belfast, 11 June), Marlay Park (Dublin, 19 June) and Thomond Park (Limerick 9 and 10 July with one night already full).
While Kingfishr’s star continues to rise, could it be possible they would be attached to announcing a major international act, also this Thursday? An Instagram post today from the band, announcing details of their forthcoming second album, is lending at least a little weight to that theory…
“Our second album ‘Weight Of The Feather’ will be released on 9th April 2027.
Thank you so much for supporting us through everything so far. We’re really proud of what we have made here the past few months, it feels like we’ve truly tapped into something special, in the way we want to write, and what we have to say. It’s all yours on April 9th 2027.
We’re incredibly lucky to be able to do this and we wouldn’t change a thing, but it also throws its challenges at you. The album is about these highs and lows and everything in between, we’re very excited for you to hear it.
Available to pre-order from our official store right now, link in bio x
Another announcement tomorrow :)x”
So what are we thinking? First, a new album announcement, then a special gig series announcement,r considering they already have their own shows sold out for next summer? Or could it be as straightforward as the first single from the album? There may have been a visit from Kingfishr to Kilkenny this past week also…
Either way, we won’t have too long to find out, with Aiken Promotions set to let everyone know at 8am this Thursday.
