Kilkenny’s Ballykeeffe Amphitheatre has had its stage and canopy damaged, according to the venue’s social media accounts.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday, the venue reported acts of antisocial behaviour caught on CCTV that have resulted in the open air venue being fenced off.

“Having watched our CCTV footage we have noticed antisocial behaviour happening in our amphitheatre!!”, they’ve posted via Instagram.

“Teenagers have been climbing the canopy and using hurls to damage it. It is not only going to be costly but its not safe for children and teenagers to be doing this. We can clearly see faces and if needed we will have to prosecute if there is a lot of damage done. Our stage has also been damaged.”

“Please keep your children and teenagers supervised and know where they are.”

“Don’t Damage what we as a community have spent many years building up for everyone to enjoy.”

Fenced off

Returning to social media on Monday, the team at Ballykeeffe Amphitheatre revealed they have closed off access to the space until repair works are carried out.

“We unfortunately have had to fence in the amphitheatre for everyone’s safety! Having accessed the damage, it is repairable. If this behaviour continues in the future we will report it to the Gardai.”

“We hope that this is a one off incident and our posts from here on in will be positive and about shows!! Happy Easter to you all.
