Whitney Rose, Deep Dark Woods and Birds Of Chicago are back for more as we pass the half way point of Kilkenny Roots Festival 2018.

The sun was out in force in Kilkenny on Saturday with the city warming up to the sounds of Michael Nau at lunchtime. With gigs following from Prinz Grizzly, Whitney Rose (pictured), Darlingside, Birds of Chicago and more on the free trail, it really shapes things up for Sunday.

And so, we arrive at day three of this year’s festival.

The aforementioned Deep Dark Woods get proceedings underway in Cleere’s at 1pm.

Gigs follow from Bennett Wilso Poole (Ryan’s), Mary Gauthier (Set), Whitney Rose is back again in Billy Byrne’s while Peter Oren – fresh from Whelan’s in Dublin last night – heads for Ryan’s at 5pm.

Tonight brings Birds of Chicago’s second show at Cleere’s, Darlingside in Kyteler’s and Hillbilly Casino as the late night closer in Set at 11pm.

On The Free Trail

Two of the highlights from Saturday’s Smithwick’s Music Trail are Goat Roper Rodeo Band, and you’ll find them in Billy Byrne’s today at 3pm. Villiers and The Villains did some solid tunes on Saturday afternoon and they’re kicking off their Sunday in Langtons at 5, moving to Ryan’s before 9pm.

Here’s what’s happening for your Sunday at the 2018 Kilkenny Roots Festival.
