The Metal Cell Podcast #112

The Metal Cell, Ireland’s premier metal music podcast, has been dipping into some of the history of the metal scene in Kilkenny in its latest episode

Presented by Richie LeFaux along with Kilkenny man-turned-Corkonian, Evan Prendergast (ex-Mantra, Chemical Addiction, The Lions Mane), The Metal Cell has been running since April 2019, interviewing generations of metal musicians, promoters and fans who have been keeping Ireland’s metal scene busy over the years.

In their most recent edition, they’re revisiting a slice of the Kilkenny metal and general music scene with the help of Bob Ryan (Nearly Dead Jim / Slave Zero), Ben Keating (Chemical Addiction) and Jimmy Trigger (ex Itchy Trigger Finger, A Trigger Within).

Whether you were bracing yourself in the crowd at the Friary Hall for Fugazi and Gout, or you whiled away your weekends in the Zoo for late-night shows or the Battle Of The Bands on a Sunday afternoon, anyone who was part of the local music scene – particularly on the metal side – from the mid-late nineties to mid-noughties should get a whack of nostalgia from the chat.

It’s a long listen, so get the kettle on.
