AKA Fringe Launch Party

AKA Fringe Launch Party

You can’t have AKA Fringe without an AKA Fringe Launch Party.

This year’s Alternative Kilkenny Arts (AKA) is having not one, but two launch events this coming Wednesday 18 August.

Fennelly’s of Callan will host the ‘rural’ launch at 6pm with Sullivan’s Taproom on John Street welcoming the ‘city’ launch for 9pm.

Ring-A-Link will be running a free shuttle bus service departing Carnegie Library at 5.45pm to make for Callan, returning at 8.30pm.

2018 AKA Fringe Programme

It’s the fourth outing for AKA and this year’s programme is already twice the size of 2017.

On the music front alone you’ve got Arborist, Robyn Shiels, Pierce Turner, Richie Healy, James McDonald, Wagnu, Arreglos String Quartet, Mick Hanly, Shane Joyce, SOLA and more.

There’s also a collaboration event with Kilkenny Arts Festival in celebration of the late Willie Meighan.

Dubbed There Is A Light That Never Goes Out, St. Canice’s Cathedral will host Yorkston/Thorne/Khan, The Lost Brothers and Malojian as three acts come together to celebrate a man who celebrated their own musical journeys.

With more events still to be announced, you can check the full programme at akafringe.com
