The Deep Dark Woods are in demand.
Ryan Boldt and co.’s lunchtime show at Cleere’s Theatre for this year’s Kilkenny Roots Festival is a sell-out. It also marks the first sold out show of the festival and there’s still over two months to go. Boldt was in Kilkenny as part of 2015’s premium festival line-up.
Of all the tickets I buy at the festival each year, the lunchtime shows – regardless of who’s playing – are top of the list. It’s like the secret festival within the festival itself. You’re shaking off the dust from Friday or Saturday night, pint in hand, band in full flow at 1pm.
The Deep Dark Woods on tour
The Deep Dark Woods wrapped their US tour last week and are off on a mammoth European tour commencing April, stopping in Kilkenny for May 5 & 6. With the lunchtime show sold out, there’s still a chance to get tickets for their Saturday show at Kyteler’s.
The tour brings with them their latest album, Yarrow (Spotify), released last October on Six Shooter Records.
This year’s Kilkenny Roots Festival, the 21st edition, takes place 4-7 May.
