Two years without, Bowie Day is back this Saturday at Ryan’s Bar on Friary Street, Kilkenny.
Celebrating the life and music of David Bowie for the fifth time, a host of local talent will be taking to Ryan’s including The Oddities with special guests Sylvia Knox, Jan Murphy, Canice Kenealy, Aoife Meaghar, Raindogs, Star Comedy Democrats, Ray O’Sullivan and friends, Annabel Tuohy and Gerard James Hough.
Bowie died on 10 January 2016, two days after the release of his 26th and final studio album, Blackstar. He had battled with liver cancer for 18 months previous.
Proceeds from the day will go to Care For Carol, a fundraiser for local woman Carol Donohue. With a target of €20,000 to raise for overseas treatment – and almost €15,000 raised at the time of writing – there is hope Bowie Day will go a long way towards bridging the gap.
Music gets underway from 7.30pm.
