Times are tough, gigs are scarce, but with state funding available and with the help of the Live Venue Collective, Cleere’s are putting on a string of gigs to be broadcast online, with filming starting this month.
Drawing on local and visiting acts (bands are allowed to travel as an essential worker for gigs to participating venues), it’s local trio Sola who get filming underway in the back room in Cleere’s tomorrow.
Over the course of the week with Dicemen Productions and Broderick’s catering for visuals and sound, Sola will be joined by
- Mick ‘Citern’ Walsh
- Cry Monster Cry
- Luan Parle
- Clive Barnes
- Mick McAuley & Paddy Cleere
- Sorcha Richardson
- Alchemy
- John Blek
- Ultan Conlon
- Mary Coughlan
- Tommy Fitzharris & Brian Mooney (corrected from poster)
- Liam O’Maonlai
- Pat Barrett
- The Kilkenny’s and
- Rónán O’Snodaigh.
The performances have been made possible with funding under the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media (yes, that’s what the department is actually called these days).
Set Theatre are also a participating venue where it’s predicted that in the region of 400 live shows will be filmed around the country in the coming weeks for distribution online.
The gigs will be made available free-to-air and carried on venue Facebook pages or YouTube channels.
