Long speculated, now confirmed, Bruce Springsteen is making a long-awaited return to Kilkenny next year.
Springsteen and The E Street Band will be taking up residence at UPMC Nowlan Park on Sunday 12 May. In all, four gigs have been confirmed for Ireland with a stop at Boucher Road in Belfast on 9 May, Kilkenny on 12 May, Cork’s Páirc Uí Chaoimh on 16 May and Croke Park in Dublin on 19 May.
Last seen in Kilkenny for the Wrecking Ball Weekender at UPMC Nowlan Park in 2013, Springsteen’s already been around the European block this summer with the Irish dates for next year as part of a 22-show stadium run, joined by a number of rescheduled Canadian and US shows following a short illness.
Kilkenny’s return was long rumoured and expected to be announced alongside the Cork dates last month but for the band announcing the postponement of a number of US and Canadian dates. Over 1.6 million tickets were sold for the most recent European tour, including three sold-out nights at Dublin’s RDS.
