If you’re a fan of classical music and have been following the Music In Kilkenny programme, you’ll be delighted to hear they’re hosting their first streaming event on the May Bank Holiday weekend.
Actus Tragicus, a concert of Bach cantatas will be streaming by Music In Kilkenny over the May bank holiday weekend.
The concert is pre-recorded and will be available to stream from 4pm Saturday 1 May through 11pm Monday 3 May. Tickets, priced €5, can be booked here. With support from the Arts Council of Ireland, a standout team of singers and instrumentalists have come together to perform two of J.S. Bach’s cantatas – Cantata BWV 106 ‘Actus Tragicus’ and Cantata BWV 161 ‘Komm, du süße Todesstunde’.
Recording is slated to take place on 26 and 27 April and will feature soloists Róisín O’Grady (soprano), Sharon Carty (mezzo-soprano), Conor Prendiville (tenor) and Gyula Nagy (bass-baritone.
Camerata Kilkenny comprises Claire Duff (violin), Anita Vedres (violin), Nathan Sherman (viola), Laoise O’Brien (recorder), Theresa Burton (recorder), Sarah Groser (viola da gamba), Malachy Robinson (viola da gamba), Norah O’Leary (cello continuo), Malcolm Proud (organ continuo).
