You might not be able to teach an old dog new tricks, but when it comes to Kerbdog, all expectations are on old tricks taking to the stage.
This Saturday night sees Set Theatre in Kilkenny host one of the city’s finest exports for their second local gig in the past six months (they squeezed in a show in Cleere’s last October) as they get ready to hit the UK for an all but sold-out tour.
Adding to the fun of the night, rising local rockers The Donnys will open proceedings, taking to the stage around 8.30pm with Kerbdog expected on stage around 9.30/9.45pm for a roughly hour-long set comprising the biggest of hitters from Kerbdog (1994) and On The Turn (1997).
Even after all these years, if you’ve still not seen Kerbdog live, you’ve been missing out. Tickets for this one went on sale last July and have been down as sold out since so you’ll do well to find a ticket floating around for Saturday night. Doors 8pm.
Kilkenny this weekend is all part of the 25th-anniversary tour for On The Turn. Hey You Guys! will be joining Kerbdog on the UK leg of the tour as they head to Bristol (16 March, sold out), London (02 Academy Islington, 17 March), Leeds (18 March, sold out) and Glasgow (19 March, sold out)
If you want a real throwback to Kerbdog’s early days, here’s some footage that surfaced online last year with Cormac Battle and Darragh Butler in LA in 1994…
