Keep Her Lit is a new folk and traditional music festival taking place in Kilkenny this month and it’s all going down over two days in Inistioge.
With an ethos of celebration and commemoration at the heart of the festival, a full programme of music, song, walks, workshops, food, craft and more is running from 13-14 August in the village and surrounds.
The festival also honours the memory of two pillars of the Inistioge community and celebrates their contribution to the local cultural landscape – musician Dave Donohoe and public Johnny O’Donnell, “two heroes of Irish music and culture who were both taken too soon”, per festival organisers.

Here’s a look at what’s happening
Saturday 13 August
- 12-2pm: Gomárach Walk; a healing nature walk along the River Nore with Maura Brennan
- 4-6pm: Afternoon trad session at The Otter Bar and The Woodstock Arms
- 7.30pm – 10pm: Lisa O’Neill & Clare Sands, live at St. Mary’s Church
- 9pm-11pm: Evening trad sessions at The Otter Bar & The Woodstock Arms
Sunday 14 August
- 11am-6pm: Craft and foot market at Inistioge Village Square
- 11am-1pm: Music workshops for all ages at Cois Abhann Community Centre
- 2pm-4pm: Frankie Lane & Friends, Counter Attack Concert at Millennium Garden
- 4pm-6pm: Afternoon trad sessions at The Otter Bar & The Woodstock Arms
- 7pm-9.30pm: Niamh Regan & Brigid Mae Power at Cois Abhann Community Centre
- 9pm-11pm: Evening Trad Sessions at The Otter Bar & The Woodstock Arms
