We’ve had September Sounds, then December Sounds, now it’s the turn of April Sounds with St. Canice’s Cathedral set to host a wealth of leading and local musicians, actors and artists alike for another three-day concert series.
Delivered locally by Kilkenny County Council Arts Office with funding from the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, all proceeds from tickets for the April shows are going to Red Cross Ukraine and UNICEF Ukraine, both organisations currently running emergency appeals.
With Covid restrictions lifted, St. Canice’s Cathedral in the city returns to full capacity on Friday 8 April, opening its doors to Lisa O’Neill, Rónán Ó Snodaigh and Myles O’Reilly, Arrivalists (Patrick M. Barrett) and local singer-songwriter Bríd Lyons.
On Saturday 9 April it’s the turn of Saíocht, hosted by actor Stephen Rea and featuring the poet Gabriel Rosenstock, spoken word artist FeliSpeaks, poems from local poets Robert McLoughlin and Emily Murtagh and music from Louise and Michelle Mulcahy with Neil Martin.
