The first in a new planned series of all-ages gigs takes place today in Bambrick’s at Troy’s Gate. Their back room venue (formerly a restaurant) was being transformed last night to host Itchy Trigger Finger, Chemical Addiction and Pyrotechnix (featured on the All-Ireland Talent Show).
Trig Promotions are behind the gig who, with the aid of Essaness Music and the Drum Youth Cafe, hope to give young bands a new platform to show off their skills, songs and hopefully capture an audience for their work.
Since the wind down of the Underground gigs last year and no 2009 Battle Of The Bands event, young acts in Kilkenny (those U18) have been, for the most part, without a venue to perform in.
For those of you unfamiliar with Bambrick’s, you might know it as “the pub at the roundabout near Dominos”. The back room venue holds quite a large number and while the event is being billed as all-ages, alcohol will be available in the main bar to those old enough.
There’s a six Euro cover charge, doors open at 4pm and music gets underway shortly after.
