Waiting For Vega Kick Mark Return To Cleere’s

Dublin based metal act ‘Waiting For Vega‘ are set to rock the return of the KilkennyMusic.com Presents series for 2007 in Cleere’s Theatre. We didn’t book anything for January to allow us a month after the busy Christmas to plan the One Take Sessions for 2007 and all the Presents dates and now we’re ready to rock, starting with Waiting For Vega on February 24th in Cleere’s Theatre. Doors will open at 9:30pm with a EUR6 charge on the door.

Don’t forget as well that Majella Murphy is live with KilkennyMusic.com this weekend on Saturday, doors 9:30pm in The Widows (The Loft Venue upstairs) with support from David Thompson and all the gig listings are on MySpace, slowly getting their way around to the main site. We do work in mysterious ways!

New Music To Blog By

We’ve added a few tracks to the listening selection on the blog here. If you check the MP3 player on the sidebar you’ll find recent additions in ‘Just Lighten Up’ by Numinous, ‘Tom Petty’ by Laminate and ‘Where’s The Remote’ by Panda Radical. Both Laminate and Panda Radical have featured on the Sound System Podcast while Numinous has mailed in a demo offering before appearing in Kilkenny back in December 2005. The lineup of the band has changed in recent months but the music is fantastic – very Incubus-esque if you’re into it.

More Quality Acts For March Sessions

The fun never stops in the heads of those of us at KKM, and neither does the raw talent that has been appearing at the One Take Sessions. This week we’ve added two more acts, both of whom are travelling from Waterford and will grace the stage on March 8th and March 29th.

Ross Kearley (plays March 8th) and Brian McNamara (plays March 29th) will join KilkennyMusic.com for the One Take Sessions.

We’ll have blab live shortly enough on the two lads on the Sessions site and we’ll definitely have some terrific live music for everyone to enjoy in March!

Oooh! 8th KilkennyMusic.com Podcast

Yes, we’re back, myself (Ken) and Ross on the mic as we take a look at the One Take Sessions from last Thursday night (January 25th). The podcast features myself (representing the Happy Medium) and 2005 Clonmel Song Contest winner Adela Meally. The ‘Sessions last week was one of the quieter ones to date but one of the most enjoyable so far. Enjoy :)

All we need to do now is cut a sexy jingle and away we go :)

Kilkenny Music (And Bands) At Blast

If you’re in Dublin today, head along to Radio City and you’ll be able to catch some Kilkenny bands in action in the afternoon at Blast! Making the trip from the medieval city are Weeduggy, Mantra and one of Kilkenny’s finest home grown acts, Itchy Trigger Finger.
Itchy Trigger Finger
There’ll be two of the KilkennyMusic.com staff there as well (Daw, Ross) so if you’re looking to have a word with anyone there’s a good chance you’ll catch them in Radio City before the evening is out. We’re not overly sure what the schedule is only that the three aforementioned bands are appearing on the Cavern Stage with ITF topping the bill at 4pm.

Doors actually open at 1pm and you’ll find more on BlastSpace.com.

We Love The Simpons – Especially On Guitar

This one comes via the KilkennyMusic.com forums. If you’re looking to be amazed by someone’s guitar talents then this might be a good place to start!

Another Fine Thursday For KilkennyMusic.com

So last night was the return of the One Take Sessions again and it turned out to be a great night. January, we reckon, is always a fairly quiet month. Although we were quite surprised at the turnout for the January 4th Sessions, especially in the mouth of the New Year, plenty of folk turned out. Last night, was more in line with our January thoughts but those that were there were treated to a most intimate and excellent show by two fine performers.

James O’Toole had withdrawn late on Wednesday night and Linda Coogan, booked from early December, was a no-show unfortunately on the night but it didn’t seem to matter as Happy Medium frontman Ken McGuire powered into an 50 minute extended set of original material and Adela Meally charmed the audience (also with an extended set) with her fantastic vocals and unique performance style. Adela, Dominic and co. go to the studio in Fermoy on Saturday week to record her first single.

Fair play to everyone there, hope you all enjoyed it and we’ll see everyone again on Saturday next (February 3rd) for Majella Murphy.

Spoke To Soon!

Well well well, looks like we spoke too soon. Doing the MySpace roundup this evening we picked up a mail from James O’Toole who unfortunately can’t make the One Take Sessions tomorrow night. Bit disappointing really as we were all looking forward to his set but there you go – these things happen!

Anyway, go enjoy that video from earlier on and hopefully we’ll see James in Kilkenny before too long.
